The current SCC Distribution Superstore and Head Office - just around the corner from Tesco’s Head Offices in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire - started life in much humbler surroundings over 15 years ago. The trade counter was part of the SCC International building. It was tiny, the stock minimal and the silence from dead telephones almost deafening ! And the hours ticked by . SCC Distribution (SCCD) was set-up to provide a solution to the logistical nightmares that the highly successful SCC International were experiencing at that time, yet from this small beginning SCCD was to exceed all expectations, blossoming into the highly respected and knowledgeable distribution business that it is today.

In those early days the depot was managed by Ben Demetriou, now Director of Distribution, ably supported by Richard Erbe, now Manager of SCCD East. Since then success and expansion has been continuous resulting in several ‘forced’ moves to larger and larger premises. Ben continues to lead the SCC Distribution Team to new strengths and successes - and he also leads others on the motor racing circuits around Britain with Team SCC. He is the 2007 Porsche Club GB Class 2 Champion.

Rob Butler Group Business Manager, joined SCCD in January 2001. Already well known in the electronics industry through his introduction of Hirschmann products into the UK and before that as one of the original team to launch the now famous Alpine Car Hi-Fi into the UK Market, Rob is now the General Manager of Paragon Components UK. During 2003 he initiated SCC Convergency, the R & D, Technical and Training division of the group dealing with new technologies and is also the editor of ‘Picture This’, the companies well-read and popular monthly newsletter. Rob’s first employment was as a professional keyboard player, session musician and musical arranger for over 20 years. He is a qualified CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design Installation Association) training presenter and has held many seminars for both Cedia and the CAI.

February 1999 saw the addition of a new member of staff who has also been instrumental in the early development and continuing success of SCCD in the person of Simon Smith. Simon is now the Group Sales Manager responsible for the daily smooth running of all the SCCD Depots. His careers prior to joining the company had been as a Financial Advisor and a Transport Logistics Manager - as well as a spell on Tottenham Hotspur’s books as a youth player.

Martin Hinkins is the Depot Manager at Cheshunt. Martin joined the company in 2002 and was employed as a van delivery driver and sales assistant but now internal promotion allows him to enjoy the responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Depot. His previous employments include tool making, building, I.T. buying and others so he brings a wide range of experiences to the company. Martin enjoys music, camping and outdoor activities in his spare time.

Vittorio (Vic) Conza joined the company during 2004 and has rapidly progressed from Sales Assistant to become SCC Convergency Manager. Vic is the depot’s ‘Guru’ regarding Set Top Boxes and High Definition TV System Distribution and he is always involved in technical sales.

Sam Cook is a member of the Trade Sales team who ‘doubles up’ as a Van Delivery Driver and Stock Controller. He joined SCCD in 2007 after previously being a Car Hire Manager and a Trainee Electrician. He likes football, pool, fishing and darts.

Lee Whittfield also supports the Trade Sales team with Inter-Depot Logistics. Lee joined SCCD as part of the companies ongoing expansion during 2007. He also delivers emergency stock to the various depots throughout the group. Previously Lee had been a landscape gardener and paint sprayer. He likes Motor-Cross and Petrol (remote) Controlled Cars.

John Millbank joined SCCD in 2004. He is the Warehouse Manager at Cheshunt. His previous employments include being an HGV Driver, Supermarket Manager and Production Line Manager. John likes Motorcycles and World War Two Aircraft.
